Using his well-established Intentional Change Theory (ICT) and complexity theory, Richard Boyatzis, PhD, conducts ongoing research into the ways in which people and organizations engage in sustainable, desired change. His research findings predict how changes occur at different levels of human organization: team, community, country and world. His continued scholarly work has resulted in new and better measures of an individual’s emotional, social and cognitive intelligence, and has demonstrated the relationship between these abilities and performance. Fred Collopy, PhD, researches business forecasting, visualization, and the application of design ideas to management. He has designed systems for forecasting, desk management, and both abstract and accounting visualization. Collopy co-edited the influential 2004 book Managing as Designing, published by Stanford University Press. His research has been published in both academic and practitioner journals including Chief Executive and Interfaces, and he has been an expert contributor to Businessweek and Fast Company blogs dealing with innovation, design and management.

David Cooperrider, PhD, is Fairmount Minerals Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at Weatherhead and a pioneering thought leader of the appreciative inquiry (AI) method of whole-system design. His research focuses on how AI can be used to achieve sustainable, positive, strength-based change, and this body of knowledge informs his work as a professor of entrepreneurial studies. Cooperrider’s foundational AI work, 14 published books, dozens of articles, and a string of academic achievements have been covered by such well-known outlets as The New York Times, Forbes, NPR, Fast Company, Fortune, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, and BizEd.

His work is used in the Harvard Business School strategy course and has been published in a volume along with works by Michael Porter. Chatterjee’s latest book, published in 2009, is The Keys to Successful Acquisition Programs.

He has published more than 100 articles on a wide variety of topics in both academic and practitioner journals, and is on the editorial boards of more than 20 journals. In addition to serving at the national level for the American Accounting Association, he is heavily involved with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and conducts research projects for the Financial Executives Research Foundation.

Ronald Fry, PhD, received his BS in engineering from UCLA and his MS and PhD from MIT before joining Weatherhead in 1978, and he has been honored with Case Western Reserve University’s Award for Outstanding Teacher in the Professional Schools and Weatherhead’s Distinguished Service Award. Fry was part of the group that originated the appreciative inquiry (AI) approach, and he continues to study the application of AI in a variety of organizations such as World Vision, Roadway Express, U.S. Navy, AkzoNobel, Swagelok, the City of Cleveland, and the City of Shaker Heights Schools. Fry and colleague David Cooperrider currently conduct the AI Certificate Program in Positive Change for Business and Society across the globe, including in the U.S., India, Brazil, Belgium, and Indonesia. Fry publishes widely on the topics of strength-based change, organizational transformation, high performing teams, and large system change processes. His most recent book, with Frank Barrett, is Appreciative Inquiry: A Positive Approach to Developing Cooperative Capacity.
